Sea Scouts

For girls and boys aged 10 1/2 - 14 1/2 years old

Whilst in Sea Scouts, you will have a summer programme and a winter programme.

During the summer programme, you will be on the River Lune every week where you will hone your kayaking skills and will earn staged badges as you achieve milestones. Along with kayaking, you will get to build and sail your own rafts, spend time learning to canoe, and go sailing at Killington Reservoir. There will even be opportunities to take a day sail on a yacht.

The winter programme is where you will earn non-water-sports related badges, from astronomy to fire safety, global issues to survival skills.

You will have the opportunity to practice your previously learned survival skills such as fire-starting, shelter-building and meal preparation having been given the challenge of limited supplies on our Winter Survival camp; and an activity filled adventure at YMCA Lakeside pitching tents, hiking and sailing during Summer Camp.

As we are affiliated to the Royal Navy, you may also be given the chance to board nearby vessels; an opportunity not to be missed!
