Beaver Scouts
For boys and girls aged 6-8 years old
We aim to introduce Beavers to all aspects of Scouting in a fun and friendly way with plenty of encouragement to ‘have a go’ at whatever we have planned. As Beavers we aim to be outside as much as possible, exploring and getting dirty and learning lots of new skills while playing games, having adventures and promoting independence.

A typical Beaver meeting lasts about an hour and would start with an energetic game. We’d then introduce what we were doing that evening and get stuck in. The range of activities is huge. At the start of each term, we ask the Beavers what badges and activities they would like to do and then the Leaders try and make it happen! At the end of the meeting we do ‘Riverbank’ the formal bit, where we will present badges and give out any notices.

Of course, as Sea Beavers we also introduce our young people to water activities such as rafting, kayaking and sailing. We try and get on the water once a month during the summer and start learning about water safety with what equipment and clothing is needed to take part.
